Leadership
The Virtuosi of Houston organization has a diverse Board of Directors. The Board of Directors meet quarterly, and guide the activities and direction of the Virtuosi of Houston and volunteers their time to the many tasks needed to run the orchestra.
An Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, which meets bi-monthly, governs the Virtuosi. The two Maestro’s and the Orchestra Manager are non-voting members of the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee has, this year, been greatly enhanced by the inclusion of various professionals in the legal, accounting, and financial areas.
This strengthening of the executive committee has brought an air of professionalism, and has transferred the excitement of the growth of this organization to the students, and their parents. The two Maestros and the Orchestra Manager guide young musicians and the musical content and the education of the highly talented artists. They are assisted by the artistic advisory committee and the board of directors. The members of this committee are the leaders of various arts, civic and educational organizations in the city , including the Society of the Performing Arts and the Houston Symphony. The Virtuosi of Houston has created a stable environment for the Orchestra, Artistic Co-Directors, and the Orchestra Manager, who have been dedicated to this organization from its inception, by obtaining grants, underwriting of concerts, and various fund raisers.
The parents of the musicians and alumni parents remain involved in our organization, as there is a parent volunteer committee, which provides many services and interfaces with the Board of Directors regularly.
