2008-2009 SEASON AUDITION
PROCEDURES & REQUIREMENTS

Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 9am to 4pm

Virtuosi of Houston Studio
Memorial City Mall, Houston, Texas

Final auditions for the Orchestra will be held on:
October  18, 2008 – starting at 4pm

  1. Application Form
  2. Non-refundable application fee of $45 for new members, $35 for returning Virtuosi students. Checks payable to Virtuosi of Houston, Master Card, Visa, and American Express are also accepted.
  3. Must be in grades 7 through 12 and ages 11 to 18
    (2008-2009 Season) and an active member of their respective school orchestra or band.

NEW AUDITIONEES MUST PREPARE THE FOLLOWING (MEMORIZATION NOT REQUIRED):

  1. Major and minor scales and arpeggios (3 octaves – string players; 2 octaves – wind players).
  2. One prepared solo or concert piece, piano accompaniment not required.
  3. Orchestral excerpts for your audition will be mailed by us upon receipt of completed application form and fee.
  4. Selected sight-reading material.

RETURNING VIRTUOSI MUSICIANS NEED ONLY PREPARE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Auditions will be held at the Virtuosi of Houston Studio at Memorial City Mall. See attached Map.

TUITION

A Tuition fee of $650.00 per student for the 2008/2009 season must be paid upon acceptance. Those students in need of financial assistance or payment arrangements should apply to the Virtuosi of Houston Board of Directors at the address below attention Mrs. Zarine M. Boyce.

The above fee includes tuition for the 2008/2009 Season. This covers all rehearsals with professional instruction by Andrzej Grabiec and Franz Anton Krager Professors of Music at the University of Houston, Moores School of Music. Both Mr. Grabiec and Mr Krager are the Artistic Directors and Conductors of the Virtuosi of Houston.
